I recently heard this author share her story on a podcast and it was inspiring! She was suffering from chronic headaches and knew she had to make some changes in her life to improve her health.
When she began to slowly change out toxic cookware, laundry soap, hair care products, furniture, and so much more her health dramatically changed for the better. The author started an Instagram page to help others do the same thing.
Now this book can help you slowly detox every room of your house so that your living environment is safe and clean for you and your family! I especially love the author’s ALLT approach, which stands for Assess, Let Go, Level Up, and Transform Over Time. She understands that it’s a process and it doesn’t happen overnight.

I love reading is author’s books on cleaning because she truly is an expert! I even reviewed some of them here. But, what I appreciate even more is that she understands how toxic and dangerous store-bought cleaning products truly are.
That’s why enjoying our home is more than just cleaning it will all these chemicals. It’s about making it a peaceful, safe, and enjoyable environment! This is one of the books on having a toxin-free home that helps bridge that gap. It will truly help you make your home the haven you long for it to be.
I especially loved Chapter 3 “The Toxic Ten and Whole Home Swaps.” Before deep diving into swaps to make throughout your entire house, the author touches on the 10 most common and toxic places to start and swap out. This is a great place for beginners to start without feeling overwhelmed!
There is also a kick-start weekend challenge to help you get started and then keep going before jumping into the room-by-room guides.

This book is unique in that it is all about building a brand-new house from the ground up with toxic-free products, which isn’t necessarily easy! After the author Jen had to eliminate so many things from her life to gain her health back, she started this business with her husband of building healthy homes.
Her story is shared at the beginning of the book and it is beautiful to read. I stumbled upon this book on Amazon and I am so glad I did. We are currently building our house ourselves on our homestead and it has given us great information on what products to source for the build.
Now, most people aren’t building a brand-new house from scratch, but I have still recommended this book to friends and family. After reading the book they have looked into all the materials that their house is made out of and become aware of chemicals or toxins that may be hanging out in their walls, for example.
It is one of the books on having a toxin-free home that actually looks at the structure of your house, not just what you bring inside of it. Both of which are extremely important! If you are thinking of doing any sort of home renovation in the future, I recommend reading this book first.

I enjoyed reading this book because of how detailed and thorough it is. It makes the distinction between a healthy house and a green house, and how combining these principles you create a clever house for your family!
When this book walks you through each room of the house, it has lots of information on topics you might not even think about at first. For example, how to effectively get rid of fleas with natural cleaners and essential oils. Or, which kind of flooring is susceptible to housing which kind of chemicals or pests.
This is an incredible pocket reference to have on your shelf as things arise – stains, pests, new toys, furniture, etc. There is an answer to just about everything as one of the books on having a toxin-free home.

I recommend this book for someone that doesn’t love reading as much as you love looking at charts and visual images. As one of the books on having a toxin-free home that is very visually appealing it makes it easy to read and understand all the hard terminology behind chemicals.
This is also a wonderful book for the beginner, someone that wants to start but doesn’t quite know where or how to do it. It makes it very simple for you to walk into your bathroom and see what is toxic after reading the bathroom chapter.
This relatable book is a great place to start, or even get a refresher, on your toxin-free home journey!
