It’s true that most things in life are built on the little things, including your marriage! These Christian marriage books reminded me of that recently.

My husband and I have been married for three years so far, and even we need to go back to the basics to keep the love alive at times. Being married to my best friend is certainly one of the best things that has ever happened to me, but marriage is challenging.

A kiss out of nowhere, a word of encouragement in the morning, or a small act of doing the dishes for your spouse – all these are the little things that add up to a wonderful marriage. On the other hand, the little things that are not so good – a snippy reply, an eye roll, a small lie – all slowly destroy your marriage.

Keeping your love sparked requires doing the little things, constant forgiveness, and open communication. It also requires intimacy on the physical, spiritual, and emotional levels!

If you want to spark love again in your marriage, or you need to save your marriage from ending in divorce, then read these Christian marriage books today! There are so many practical tips in these that will bring your closer to the Lord and closer to your spouse!

Let’s dive in and check them out…

  1. Love Life for Every Married Couple: How to Fall in Love, Stay in Love, Rekindle Your Love by Ed Wheat

This is one of the Christian marriage books that will never go out of style! It is a classic, and for good reason. The copy I am reading says it was published in 1980, and while the pages are yellowing and tearing, the truth inside remains solid!

As Christians, we know that the truths of marriage come from God and His word. The author uses the word of God to give practical, real-world examples and advice.

In fact, one of his points says “I can learn what love is from God’s word. It is rational, not irrational. I can understand love and grow in the understanding of it throughout my lifetime.”

But I especially loved his chapter on “The Secret Of Staying In Love.” It focuses on the topic of intimacy and touching physically, touching emotionally, touching mentally, and touching spiritually. He argues that you can do everything else to help your marriage but if intimacy in these ways is left out, it will still fail!

Remember, it’s those little things in marriage, those small touches of intimacy, that make the world of difference!

  1. The Language of Love: The Secret to Being Instantly Understood by Gary Smalley & John Trent

This is another of the Christian marriage books that have stood the test of time. A second edition has been printed and people are still reading the book, including me!

Communication is a huge part of Christian marriages. But because men and women are designed so differently by God, each marriage struggles with communication to various degrees.

This book helps you communicate any message or emotion that you want to express to your spouse through a word picture. By sharing a story, or word image, you are communicating a deep and relatable message. In fact, this communication advice can go beyond marriage and be used at work, with your children, or at speaking engagements.

If you feel misunderstood or want to communicate the heart of the matter for the first time, then pick this book up and learn its techniques! Your marriage will grow when you begin communicating clearly.

  1. The Flirtation Experiment: Putting Magic, Mystery, and Spark Into Your Everyday Marriage by Lisa Jacobson and Phylicia Masonheimer

This book is specifically for the wives that want that spark, romance, and flirtation back in their marriage! The authors of this book each do different “flirtatious” experiments on their husbands and have wonderful results.

If you are like me and not creative in your marriage, or haven’t been putting in the work, then this book is for you. Too often we sit on the couch in front of a Hallmark movie and think, “if only my husband was romantic like that.” Instead, we can spark that romance first!

With just a little bit of creative effort, your marriage can begin to change overnight!

This book is beautifully written on nearly everything in marriage, from the delights to the hardships. It even includes topics like submission and death from a biblical perspective.

  1. Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti by Bill and Pam Farrel

One way to help your marriage grow is to understand the difference between men and women. Men are like waffles, meaning they categorize their life into boxes. Whereas women are like spaghetti, meaning everything intertwines and connects in life.

Because men and women think so differently, they communicate so differently. They also rest, romance, fight, achieve goals, and so much more differently! This book covers all those topics and more to help you start improving your marriage today.
