Let me be the first to say congrats! If you are looking at setting up an Amazon wedding registry then I am so excited for you and thrilled that you are in this season of life.
An Amazon wedding registry is the perfect registry to set up for so many reasons. And I mean besides the fact that you and your guests probably already get everything you need from Amazon!
One of the biggest reasons people choose to set up an Amazon wedding registry is that it gives you easy returns and exchanges. You get 180 days to return a wedding gift from your registry. That’s not a return rate a lot of other companies are flexible on. Plus, your time is valuable.
You can also participate in shared gifting on big-ticket items. So go ahead and add those big-ticket items, like a new couch or table, to the registry. With Amazon, you get access to a Group Gifting feature so that friends and family can each contribute towards that larger item. No need to find something small for everyone to gift!
I also love the Amazon wedding registry because some select brands will send you a free gift when your guest buys an item off the registry. Two gifts for the price of one, I mean who wouldn’t take that?!
Not to mention you are gifted 20% off anything still left on the registry as your big day approaches and it still hasn’t been snagged up.
So now that you are blown away by all the amazing reasons why an Amazon wedding registry is a fantastic avenue to choose from, here are steps you need to take to set up the registry correctly and suggestions on products you should add to that registry.

HOW TO CREATE THE BEST AMAZON WEDDING REGISTRY
First things first, you will want to click this link or find your way over to www.amazon.com and search “wedding registry.” This page /or something similar as the site is updated regularly) will pop up for you:
Click on that pink button on the left that says, “Create Your Registry”.
Begin filling in your information. Amazon keeps everything super easy and makes it very user-friendly.
Some things I suggest doing on this screen are putting in your fiance’s information and all the information about the wedding that you know so far.
This will help Amazon tailor the gift suggestions and products to you and it will let your significant other add on products when they come to mind.
Also, make sure both these options are selected because it will save your guests time and money. And ultimately, will be the best experience for both parties when using the registry. They should be selected by default, but if not go ahead and check both these options.
Amazon also lets you leave a note for your guests. You could write something like “Thank you so much for your gift. Feel free to send gifts directly to our address at xxx from 1/1/23 till the wedding day. We appreciate you and can’t wait to celebrate with you!”
Writing a note will really give your guests confidence that what they are doing when they purchase from your registry is something that you want and expect.
As I mentioned above, Amazon is amazing in that they offer group gifting options. The default is $300 but I suggest going lower.
If you really want people to put money towards a big-ticket item, then make it easy for them to do that. Depending on the style and theme of your wedding, and how deep your guest’s paychecks go, you will want to adjust this number.
I think $50 is a great range that will encourage people to help you get that big-ticket item you have your eye on without asking them to over-give. Plus, then that big-ticket item will likely be purchased and you won’t have to worry about it sitting on the registry up until the big day.
Next, I suggest making sure that Amazon can share your registry on The Knot. In my opinion, there is really no reason not to do this.
Guests are usually familiar with The Knot and will likely look up your wedding on their site. It makes it easier for people to find your Amazon wedding registry and then you benefit from people purchasing the gifts you want.
There’s nothing worse than getting gifts you didn’t even ask for and going through the hassle of returning them just for cash. Make it easy for your guests and then it will be easier for you as well.

There are other default options as well, like making your registry public for anyone to find. Your guests want it to be easy and quick, and so does Amazon. So make it easy for everyone.
Then, you can select your email preferences and sign up for Prime for free. Prime is Amazon’s subscription program and the best time to sign up for it would be when you are creating an Amazon wedding registry because you will receive huge benefits from it.
Not only does Prime allow you to get fast, free 2-day shipping for millions of products, but it also gives you access to exclusive deals, movies, shows, and songs.
The fast, free shipping options alone are reason enough to test Prime out for free on your Amazon wedding registry. You can check out more information on Amazon Prime here.
Then you can click submit! Congrats, you have an Amazon wedding registry that is ready to go!
If you chose Prime, you will have to enter your credit card but you won’t be billed until your free trial expires. Just keep an eye on it so that you can cancel when it’s time to bill you for it.
This is what the screen should look like now. Amazon starts you off with a gift card option and then gives you the categories on the sides to start building your wedding registry.
WHAT TO ADD TO YOUR AMAZON WEDDING REGISTRY
The best piece of advice I can give is to make a plan.
Because Amazon has so many options it can be so tempting to a little crazy and add items to your registry that you don’t really need and that might not even really makes sense for your life right now.
To create the best plan for the best Amazon wedding registry, you will want to start with your big-ticket items.
Think about what you need first because this is a chance for you to avoid paying for something in the future. Be prepared and take measurements, think about color really well, and get some inspiration from Pinterest.

You will want to be more careful online as sometimes colors and measurements are not exactly what the picture may look like. Take the time to make accurate judgment calls before adding the item to your Amazon wedding registry.
Here are some great Amazon wedding registry big-ticket items to consider:
Couch: Best Choice Products Convertible Living Room Couch
Mattress: Zinus Memory Foam Mattress
Security Systems: Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt with Built-In Alarm
Knife Block: Chicago Cutlery Knives Block Set
Grill: Blackstone Gas Grill Flat Top
Baking: KitchenAid Mixer
Television: Toshiba 50 inch
Vacuum: Dyson Cyclone
Snow Blower: Snow Joe Ultra
Patio Furniture: Best Choices Products 4-Piece Wicker Set
Espresso Machine: Breville Barista Express
Thermostat: Nest Home Smart System
Next, jump to the smaller items and start with needs over wants. Things add up very fast, and if you fail to start with the needs then your wants will quickly consume and make it harder for you to get what you actually need on your registry.
Also, consider where you might be living in the future. And although this is really hard to do a lot of the time, it will help you pick items that will add value to your life and not just items that will take up precious space and be hardly used.
Here are some great ideas for smaller items to add to your registry going room by room:
Kitchen:
Living Room:
Dining Room:
Bedroom:
Bathroom:
You can also search through each of these categories one-by-one within your registry page.

Additionally, the last thing you will want to keep in mind is your hobbies. What do you like doing together? What do you wish you could do more of? What products or services would allow you to experience those hobbies more?
That might be as simple as adding different books or music options to your registry, or it may be camping and hunting gear. I personally think you can never go wrong adding on board games and cards.
Here are some great options:
Add on things that you will use. Don’t make your registry about fulfilling all your physical wants and desires. Ultimately, they won’t satisfy you anyway.
So keep your Amazon wedding registry concise, but also make it fun and unique to you as a couple.

I wish I would’ve known that Amazon did wedding registries when I got married! Looks great.
It really is the best! Thanks for commenting(:
We put under $25 gifts on our lists too. We made a WalMart Registry as well because it was the one store everyone has (we were from two different states) and we knew some of the older guests would want something they could physically go and purchase (there are still some anti-internet people). Expect to get tons of towels and washcloths, we sure did. We didn’t need a lot of them at the time (I had all of mine from college) but we are so thankful for them now. A lot of my college ones are getting threadbare and trashed.
That’s a good point about Walmart – great option as well!
We’ve selected a few wedding gifts from Amazon registries and it is so simple! I didn’t realize that the couple could get a discount applied to their choices, that is pretty awesome.
Yes, super awesome! Know you know to tell others(:
Amazon would be one of the best places to have a registry! I wish I had thought of it when I got married!
Right?! Totally agree!
What a thorough and informative post!! My sister is getting married this year and this is soooo helpful!! I’m definitely going to send this to her and encourage her to do her registry on Amazon!
Congrats to your sister Amanda! Yes, feel free to share it with her…I hope it helps(:
