It feels like the only thing to really talk about this month is the house build! With the bank deadline quickly approaching next month, even injuries can’t slow us down!

Here’s the update for June 2024…

Injury Update

After a whole month of healing naturally, Landon is able to start walking on his foot again (see last month’s update here for the full story). There is no surgery needed, and after a physical therapy appointment, it is now just allowing more time to pass as his ankle becomes stronger.

Even though it hasn’t been easy, it is truly such a miracle how simple this recovery process has been and that it is healing well so far. He still ices his foot on it every night because he spends his days on it a lot with all the house build things he is doing. But he is persevering through it all and I’m so proud of him!

House Update

The amount of help we received this month on the house build truly overwhelms us. God is so good to provide random friends stopping by, church crews coming over, and neighbors willing to lend a hand all at the perfect timing!

So many things have happened, like putting the bathtub in, finishing the stucco on the basement siding, putting plastic up on the basement walls, and lots of milling wood and processing it all! But, the most exciting part has been seeing our shiplap-style wood walls go up in our house. I mean, just look at how beautiful they are in this picture:

Garden Failure & Fixing Up The Pond

The garden has become a complete failure this year, but I am showing myself grace. When Landon’s injury happened at the end of May, I was supposed to be prepping the garden beds and planting warm-weather crops. Well, all that went out the window between taking care of him and the house build.

There are still some carrots, lettuce, and garlic growing, but not much in the grassy weedy mess. This year it was too much and that’s ok, I’ll just tackle it again next year.

In the meantime, we purchased a pond rack to get more of the muck out of our pond. It’s something I can do while I keep an eye on the kids when they are playing outside. The pond is looking better already, but that too is a big project! There is still a lot of muck, leeches, and cattails that need to go.

Next month we have family coming into town right before the house build comes to a climax! Please keep us in your prayers during this stressful time, and no matter what the outcome is, we give God all the glory!
