There’s not a lot to update you on this month on the homestead. It was unusually warm for most of January, around the mid to upper 30s, which was so nice. But, now as the month closes up, lots more snow and a cold spell have arrived.
Most of the month consisted of behind-the-scenes things we are planning for this summer that I can’t share quite yet. Otherwise, here are a few more updates for you!

Starting A Disc Golf Putting League
Landon started an indoor disc golf putting league to help himself and the locals keep their skills sharp over the winter. So far it has been going great and he’s gotten lots of great feedback. It meets weekly, Friday nights at our church gym in Dollar Bay.

Ice Fishing
Landon has been ice fishing quite a bit and bringing home dinner every once in a while! It’s been nice to add some freshly caught fish to our diet.
Butchering Day
We finished off the month with a big butchering day while the weather was still somewhat on the warmer side. We butchered 22 of our meat rabbits and 4 roosters. It has been so nice getting those taken care of before these bitter cold days.
We also had more baby rabbits born at the beginning of the month and will be looking to butcher those ones next in the spring. We also sell them as well, as pets or breeders. If you are interested in a cute little bunny for your family, we’d love to connect with you!
Egg Share Update
Our winter egg share has been going great! Recently our hens have picked up laying and we have extra eggs for the people on our flex buyer list. If you are interested in eggs this winter before we get our farm stand up in the spring, feel free to send us a message and we may have some extra available for you!
