The month of December has been wonderful. (Minus some annoying car troubles.) We’ve been able to enjoy time inside with our children, creating traditions and making memories. Setting up the Christmas tree, reading Advent each night, and worshipping the Lord this Christmas season never gets old!
We’ve also been able to get a couple of projects done, mostly around the house. But, for the most part, we are inside looking at all the snow and cold wind outside.
Let’s check it out…
Don’t forget to Pin this image for later!
Pantry Corner
The mylar bags we store our freeze-dried supplies in have been difficult to store lately. We’d run out of space in our usual bin and so Landon made some shelves. Now we have all of it up off the floor and up on the wall.
He also made a couple more shelves in another area of the house to make storing our games easier too. The best part is that the shelves are made from wood from our own land that he milled!
Freeze Drying And Apple Sauce Making
Now that there isn’t a lot of garden produce to freeze dry I’ve been putting the freeze dryer to work in other ways. We have several 5-gal bins full of dried beans, peas, and lentils. I have been cooking them all up and then freeze-drying them.
It makes making meals so much quicker and more convenient now! Plus, the food will store even longer. I have a goal this winter to work through all the bins, but I’m not sure we’ll quite make it. We will see!
We’ve also been working through our frozen whole apples in the freezer. Each week we put them in the crockpot and then mash them up. It works quite well but we want to purchase this Johnny Apple Sauce Maker to make straining the seeds and peels easier.
Partridge Hunting
Landon loves partridge hunting and after shooting a few on our land, he has been searching for some state land to shoot more on. Hopefully, he finds some soon as most don’t seem to be great.
We hope to enjoy the birds for Christmas Eve lunch and dinner!
Fixing Utility Room
Our water tank is in the barn, and we struggle with pipes freezing in the winter. Landon has tried a few different solutions, so we are hoping the latest one works with this cold blast about to hit!
Enjoying The Season
Merry Christmas everyone, from our family to yours! I hope you are able to enjoy this time remembering the birth of our Lord!
