November is always a fun month for our family. We had a few birthdays to celebrate, Thanksgiving, the start of Advent, and our first snowfall (which the kids just loved)!
Don’t forget to Pin this image for later!
Hunting
At the beginning of the month, we had family over to do some partridge and bow hunting. Then rifle season began for deer and Landon put all his time and energy into that. While we had a couple close chances, we have yet to shoot a deer this season.
However, the Lord has still blessed us with lots of venison from roadkill of our own and others! We rely heavily on venison as a form of meat for our family so we are still praying for some more deer next month.
Prepping for Winter
When we saw the snow on the forecast we knew it was time to finish up our outdoor homesteading tasks and hunker down for winter. Our biggest project was to finish scooping all our rabbit manure out of the barn and put it on the garden beds.
We also packed up the boat, brought in some toys, closed up the tiny house, and a tied up a few more loose ends. Now Landon is working on building and awning over our downstairs door to keep the snow away!
In The Kitchen
I’ve been baking through this cookbook this winter and working on my einkorn baking skills, which as been a lot of fun! I’ve also been preserving more things like lemons, broth, and apples.
Check back next month for more updates and thanks for reading! (:
