20-Something Blog – ToolBox Suggestions
So, you’re a 20-something and ready to start building your toolbox! I’m so glad because I want to share everything with you that is in my toolbox.
A toolbox for success begins with your character.
Is your character marked by humility, hard work, patience, empathy, kindness, and happiness? I know that I need to constantly work on my character. It takes practice, but it especially takes forgiveness for the times you are wronged or others wrong you.
Do you have an adventure in your toolbox? Do you perceive the world as beautiful, intricate, and filled with wonder? It’s yours to explore. So, while we want to be serious about making wise decisions, our toolbox needs to have the desire to explore, learn, and be more joyful.
Another part of your toolbox should be areas where you can learn more. Some examples would be visiting your local library for non-fiction research, reading the daily news (and not on social media!), and giving your own hand a chance at creating something from scratch.
One of the things you should know in your 20s is that without a genuine community, it will be a very difficult road.
A genuine community is not found easily. It takes hard work, but without it, you will have no one to hold you accountable, help you and guide you, and simply be a true friend. That’s why I share so much about it on this 20-something blog.
One last suggestion for your toolbox is to set up the right habits. But more on that in just a second!

20-Something Blog – Wise Adulting Tips
One of the best tips I can give you is to establish wise and correct habits today. If you use your 20s to set up wise habits, then you can lean on these for the rest of your life.
But, what are the wise habits you need in your 20’s?
Let’s begin with eating healthy, exercising, and getting enough sleep. You’ve heard those before, right?
Follow it up with serving others. Look for ways to help others and begin practicing being selfless instead of selfish. This goes along with establishing a strong community. The best place to do this is at church!
Then, establish goals. Your habits will lead you to these goals. Need some help?
Appropriate goals could include are saving money and paying off debt, owning a house, seeking marriage and a family, pursuing a career, growing in your faith, learning how to be a better friend and teammate, pursuing a dream side hustle, working towards retirement, and traveling the world.
It can be so overwhelming if we don’t write these goals down and have a strategic plan in place.

20-Something Blog – Adventure Guide
I talked earlier about how important having adventure in your toolbox is.
Between saving money, making a healthy diet and exercise decisions, and going to work each day something life can feel pretty boring.
That’s what I was doing – making wise decisions and following my goals. However, in the process, I forgot how important humor is. I forgot that there is so much joy in splurging once in a while. And I forgot that we need a vacation here and there.
Sometimes our goals can consume us. Or wanting to do the right thing and make wise decisions ends up being more important than the mere aspect of enjoying life.
I often write about leaving the extreme of making unwise decisions. However, we need to also avoid the other extreme of being so focused on the goals that we miss out on in life.

Adventure, enjoying the wonder of this world, is different for every 20-something.
One way to find what you enjoy the most is to start pursuing a side hustle. You need something that you truly love to pursue on the side when you are adulting.
I found blogging was an amazing creative outlet for me. I felt like I could help others, make some money on the side, and pursue something I was actually passionate about.
