ABOUT THE HOMESTEAD

Bethsaida Homestead was founded in May 2020 when we (Landon & Kelsey Albert) purchased 80-acres in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, in the Keweenaw Peninsula!

We had been homesteading a bit already in our suburban neighborhood in southern Wisconsin. We had chickens, rabbits, and a small neglected garden. But the desire to have our own land in the middle of no-where kept pulling at our hearts.

When we found out we were pregnant with our first daughter we knew now was the time to take the leap. Land was cheap in the UP and we stumbled across our future homestead.

It was everything we had been looking for: a barn, small ponds, some pasture, some woods, a gravel road, and an element that felt like home. God is so good!

Landon spent the pregnancy building a tiny house on the land and we moved in a month after our daughter was born, February 2021. Now our family and homestead just keep growing!

We chose the name “Bethsaida” for our homestead because it means “house of fish” or “house of hunting” and its a town in the Bible during the age of Jesus.

To keep up with our homestead adventures, check back at the end of each month for a blog post recapping everything. You can catch up on old one’s here!
